About the workshop

Guided (Un)folding is an improvisation-based physical practice that invites dancers to reconnect with the body's instinctive intelligence. Rooted in effort, flow, and sweat, the practice cultivates physical readiness, heightened awareness, and playful precision. Through continuous organic physicality and guided exploration, the body emerges as the primary navigator, shaping attention, movement, and relational dynamics. With a playful approach, dancers are led into an unfolding exploration of games, images, and tools, refining movement and qualities that expand the body's vocabulary and deepen improvisational practice.

Set phrase material functions as a site of investigation, supporting coordination, rhythmic phrasing, and shifts in physical quality. Dancers will expand their movement language by navigating between intuition, structure, and responsiveness. The practice fosters a trust in the dancing body while opening space for curiosity, presence, and shared physical research.

About the teacher

Jens-Antonio Schyth Brøndum (he/him) is a Guatemalan-born, American-Danish comtemporary dance artist based in Copenhagen. His artistic practice is grounded in an unshakeable trust in the dancing body and a deep respect for the inherited knowledge and histories carried within all bodies. Growing up in the mountainous landscapes of Colorado shaped his sensitivity to shifting physical states, adaptability, and the relational dynamics between body and environment.

He holds a BA from The Danish National School of Performing Arts and has worked with Berlin-based choreographer Sita Ostheimer, where his attention toward physical presence, embodiment, and performative responsibility was further refined. Jens-Antonio brings over ten years of professional performance experience, having collaborated with Danish Dance Theater, The Royal Danish Ballet and The Royal Danish Theatre.

Integrating organic physicality, sensory embodiment, and musicality, Jens-Antonio approaches dance as a space for trust, risk, and collective awareness. His teaching and artistic work invite dancers to engage deeply with sensation, physicality, and agency, cultivating inclusive environments rooted in curiosity and exploration. He has led company classes and facilitated workshops internationally across Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, and the United States, and remains committed to dance as a practice that expands perception and shared experience.
